Secret Santa gifts exchange, a feast of roasted turkey, honey-baked ham and logcake as well as kissing under the mistletoe are some time-honoured Christmas traditions passed down from generation to generation. On top of these traditions, as societies became more affluent, Christmas celebrations evolved to be more elaborate. Shopping districts and malls all around the world welcome the year-end festivities with tall Christmas trees decked in sparkling ornaments, dazzling displays of lights and not forgetting the year-end sale season!
In Singapore, the iconic Orchard Road is synonymous with its Christmas Light-Up. Hitachi is honoured to be the main sponsor of this dazzling annual illumination display for more than three decades. A firm advocate for Powering Good to the society, spreading the joy and cheer to the community remains at the heart of what we do.
We hope that local families and tourists immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere and create new memories of the light-up while celebrating Christmas on a Great Street. Capture these precious moments into pictures just like how we did in the photo gallery. See if any of these images take you back in time, evoking smiles and fond memories.
Let the festivities begin and have a Merry Christmas!
Christmas is indeed the Season of Giving.
Through our partnership with the Community Chest, we have raised funds to empower the lives of more than 200,000 beneficiaries across a range of causes such as adults with disabilities, children with special needs, youths-at-risk, needy families, persons with mental conditions and seniors in need.
As we celebrate with our loved ones, let’s also spread the festive cheer to everyone in the community!
A huge THANK YOU to the following companies for their generous donations in 2023:
The organisers of the Christmas Light-Up have endeavoured to make it more sustainable. Likewise, at Hitachi, we applaud such initiatives as co-creating Green business solutions with our partners are extremely crucial to build a sustainable world.
Re-using most of the LED lights and the cement stone counterweights are some commendable efforts among many other initiatives. The consolidated efforts could possibly curb about 100 tonnes of carbon emission which is equivalent to about 4,000 trees saved!
To strengthen our commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility, employees from various business units and Group of Companies come together as One Hitachi, to do good for the community. This year, we are planning a block party for children and youths under the Singapore Red Cross’s Young Hearts Programme, marking the seventh edition of Hitachi Plays Santa.
