Recently, Hitachi is implementing the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) project where Hitachi has two projects of introducing Automatic Block signaling with Train management system (TMS), GSM-R telecommunication system and the European Train Control System (ETCS) between Rewari and Vadodara to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. This project is of enormous national importance and it will help increasing the capacity of mass transportation and the speed of freight trains.
In India, with the growth in population and economy, the share of Indian Railways in per capita mobility could rise from 6,000 km in 2010 to 26,000 km by 2050.1 Hitachi is helping Indian Railways secure its share in the nation's growing mobility through Social Innovation in rail transport in India.
Spread over 66,000 Route kilometres, Indian Railway Transport System, the 3rd largest rail network in the world is truly India’s lifeline.
It’s long distance and suburban network carried more than 8,000 million passengers and an estimated 1.01 billion tons of freight in the fiscal year 2016-17.2
Recently, Hitachi has been awarded one of the biggest signaling and telecommunication contracts by Indian Railway construction major DFCCIL. The project will contribute to the creation of safe and modern logistical infrastructure in India.
