Making Freight Train Operations Safer and Convenient through Powering Western Dedicated Freight Corridor with Advanced Technologies

Inspired by the sustainable values of Environment, Resilience, Safety and Security, Indian Railways is undertaking ambitious projects to ensure safety and comfort of citizens. The Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) project by the Government is aimed at ushering an eco-friendly rail transport augmented by advanced technologies. Paving the way for success of this landmark project, the STP-5A Project team from Hitachi Rail implemented the robust Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) for Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) spanning 1,330 route kms and on 200 electric locomotives, resulting in safer and more reliable freight operations, economic growth, and lower carbon emissions.
