Our planet's ability to regenerate its natural resources is under increasing strain, creating significant challenges for sustainability and society. As population and demand continue to grow and resources remain finite, unsustainable practices are depleting raw materials.
That's why, in 2015, the EU committed to a new economy system, 'the circular economy', moving away from a linear economy in which products are designed for single use and there is little consideration for end-of-life disposal. In a circular economy, products are designed to be reused, repaired, remanufactured or recycled. It ensures biodiversity protection, preservation of natural resources and limits emissions all while fostering economic growth.
